Ever since my interest in beauty and K-beauty/skincare as a Korean-American young adult, I’ve aspired to offer something personal to the industry. It wasn’t until I made the move to New York City to pursue hair and makeup artistry (I’m from the DMV area) that I realized where my passions lie. Over the years, I've gained valuable experience in salons, contributed to numerous shows backstage at NYFW, and worked behind the scenes in photography and commercial sets. While juggling weekend weddings as a side hustle, I began to notice a crucial gap in the bridal beauty industry: a lack of professional hair and makeup artists who truly understand the facial features and hair texture of East Asian women.
Remember that time you were a bridesmaid and you got your makeup done to either look three shades too light, dated, or worst of all, like someone you don’t recognize? I’ve been there too! Is this your first time getting hair and makeup done for your wedding and you’re feeling anxious because of the aforementioned horror stories? I mean, who wants to be surprised at the end of a makeup application to look beyond recognizable?
It’s my mission to help you discover how makeup and hairstyling can work for you by enhancing your features in the most subtle and natural way possible without compromising style. It’s not that complicated, nor should it be!
I am a New York State licensed cosmetologist and a certified MUD (Make-up Designory) makeup artist. My bridal work has been featured in bridal publications like Style Me Pretty, Carrots and Cake, Trendy Bride Magazine, and Embrace Magazine, to name a few. My own wedding was featured in Brooklyn Bride in 2012. Some of my personal favorite beauty products are cheek cream blushes (Saie Beauty, hola!!), and lip tints (loving the Merit lip oils currently), and anything K-beauty and skincare. Oribe dry texturizing spray and Klorane dry shampoo are my jam!
